The Hobbit House (Part 2/2)

The Hobbits are nice people, they are worried we'll get a little tired of the Shrine.

And so this mini town was built inside their town. This was a nice change of scenery after seeing Hobbit House upon Hobbit House for a while 😅

They have also just completed the extension of the Santorini hotels, right next to the Hobbit House. So now you can have two options for accomodation.

I don't really recommend staying at The Hobbit House though. Its just too far from almost every other attractions, at least 30-60 minutes drive away. Unless you are really into The Lord of The Rings and roleplay (yes they do offer roleplay costumes at very affordable rates!), you'll probably finish combing the place and taking hundreds of pictures in 2 hours time.

And to be honest, the place isn't properly upkept. The paintworks on the hobbit house are fading, the plants are wildly growing everywhere and where they aren't supposed to be. I had a quick glance into the rooms and its very basic. There is very little privacy for the hotel guests due to the visitors streaming in, and I even saw some trying to pry into the rooms just to take pictures 😐

What I do recommend is to make a short visit, catering for at least 1-2 hours there. The Hobbit House is on the way if you are heading to Jim Thompson Farm. You can also visit Ban Mai Chay Nam Restaurant along the way if you are travelling to The Hobbit House from the direction of Khao Yai.

The entrance fees is 100 baht for adult and 50 baht for child. There is additional fees for renting the costumes (optional) if you would like to.

MidWinter Green, Khao Yai

MidWinter Green is one of the most popular restaurants in Khao Yai, and it is understandably so once you experience it yourself. The outer building looks charming and mysterious like a typical European castle, and it looks like it has many stories to tell. The interior is tastefully renovated and clothed in grandeur. The outdoor dining area is very spacious, overlooking the magnificent view of mountains behind the green fields. MidWinter Green is also a nice spot for sunset. The sky changes color to a beautiful hue of purple and pink as the sun begins to set. Do take note the sun starts to set about 545pm in December when we were there, and it gets dark pretty fast after that. The live band that starts at 630pm was good, and the light show at 8pm reminded me of the ones I saw at Universal Studios Sentosa. There are some lovely spots scattered around the compound that are so insta-friendly for the insta-lovers. Wha...

Goodbye 2018!

Coming to the end of the year, the best gift I had was a glimpse of God's faithfulness and love for our family 💖 The last 2 months were challenging and hectic. It was a very crucial time in my work. I need to hit the target for Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) by end Dec 🎯 101% focus is required in this last lap 🏃🏻‍♀️ But it was also the girls' school holidays, and we had lined up travel plans half a year ago ✈ I have their 2019 school stuffs to settle. We'd made grand plans of spending time together 👩‍👧‍👧 And serving in the church camp falls in this season. Unexpectedly, James had to travel extensively for work during this period. Each time he travels, we wouldn't know when he would be back. Even then, on the very day he's due to be back, things can always change & he'll need to extend his stay there. And each trip was usually 2-3 weeks long. Then the girls fell sick, with high fever. I didn't just had commitments to meet, they w...
